Scholarships
“Growing up, if I hadn’t had sports, I don’t know where I’d be. God only know what street corners I’d have been standing on and God only know what I’d been doing, but instead I played hockey and went to school and stayed out of trouble” -Bobby Orr
ESYSF is dedicated to making youth sports available for all children through grants to youth programs and individual scholarships to families with a financial hardship.
ESYSF Hockey Scholarship Application
Thank you for applying for a ESYSF Hockey Scholarship. Through generous donations ESYSF is able to provide children access to hockey, who would not otherwise have the opportunity due to their financial situation, to experience the benefits of hockey under the American Development Model through East Side Youth Sports Foundation.
We are currently accepting applications for the 2025-26 Bulldogs Hockey Club season. The scholarship will cover all costs for the child including registration fees, ice fees and equipment.
Unless your financial situation changes, this sponsorship is renewable each year until your child decides to no longer participate in our program or graduates from the Bulldogs Hockey Club.
Applications are accepted until all positions are filled.
In 1994, the Bulldogs Hockey Club initiated the Jack McSorley College Scholarship Award. It is named after the late Jack McSorley who died before the age of 21. Jack spent 12 years in the BHC as either a player or referee and embodied everything we hope to teach kids about athletics and academics.
The scholarship may be awarded to one or more recipients
The Little Caesars Amateur Hockey League (LCAHL) is pleased to introduce its annual Hardship Relief Grant for the 2025–2026 season, designed to keep youth hockey inclusive and accessible for all families.
Each season, up to ten deserving athletes receive $1,000 awards applied directly toward player dues—this can cover equipment, travel, team fees, or other hockey-related essentials. Eligibility requires current registration for the 2025–26 season, completion of at least four volunteer hours with the local association, and submission of a recommendation letter and a volunteer verification. Applications open on August 15, 2025, and must be submitted by October 15, 2025. Award recipients will be notified by October 30, with a public announcement following in November.
